One week in a BPO

My first week here is officially over n am slogging.Not that am cribbing about long work hours or coming here on weekends when i can see many of my friends chilling out happily.Am learning lotsa different things here in recruitment process,evaluation and what not but still somewhere down the line i still have this speck of doubt tat if have been too hasty in my decision to join a BPO.Can't do anything now except get on with it.

But one good thing here is the shift from a consulting background to the real corporate world & some of it's harsh realities.And back to Orkutting,chatting in yahoo & other stuff..Have to get a report ready with all the facts as to why attrition is high plus why we have dropouts at the final moment in an induction.

Get that done,followup on some guys and am done for the day.Plan to keep my appointment with my family doc on a test that's pending & my dentist who has washed his hands on me :) Hahhhhh his appointment is pending for 10 days now..

As time goes by i think i'll blog more about the company,stuffs happening here & blah blah blah..Afterall itz my blog and i can write in anything..Isn't that true Varun?

My Bangalore trip was just for couple of days.Thanks to Ajay & Keerthi for putting me at ease at their place.And here am back in chennai,with my viral flu back to me like a prodigal homecoming..4 more days and i start my new job on Monday.

JINXED is the word

Oh well they always say that all good things must come to an end & so is the case with me too.Paid a visit to my dentist soon after i finished my blog y'day.Some kinda problem with my temp filling.The only consolation is that y'day my 45+yr old dentist was not there & in there were couple of his oh so cool juniors.So here am - back to my not so hot,cold & hard stuff ka diet & some temp white cement filling :( Would this never end?

Am done

Am done..Just the final laser filling which is pending & which will be done sometime soon.And yeah am joining a new company on the 11th of Sep.Hope things go well but yeah this definitely is a welcome change when compared with my previous job.Things just didn't go well during the last few months & that chapter's closed..Forever but it kinda hurts that people take you on a ride just coz u have been with them long.No wonder familiarity breeds contempt..I've never thought that it'll but then it definitely did and for which i paid a huge price,almost lost my best bud,my hard work & what not.Nothing or rather nobody's is indispensable is what i learnt from that lesson.

The grand Climax

This is it..Am done with my dental fixtures and wat not for the last time..Stitches removed,fillings done & just 1 more checkup to go on thursday & am outta it.Hell i almost thought that i was turning into a cat with all the milk & bread that was being fed :( (Varun u know it all)

Anyone who needs a word or two regarding root canal,trimming..U can reach me out here

ENT done & now itz upto the dentist

There have been days when i have made fun of my mom whenever she used to go the dentist & have her teeth extracted (think it was some 4 or 5 which are already gone) :)) but never in my worst dreams i have actually thought that one fine am gonna be there in her shoes.Now after going thru the whole ordeal of aahhhh open ur mouth kinda stuff,i have had enough.One Xray which am to be getting now will decide whether am to undergo a root canal or not...Root canal oh yeah my dentist very patiently explained that doing a root canal will be as complicated as extracting that particular teeth coz my roots are long :)) Any dentist who can comment on this?
And my mom actually smiled & said that he can go ahead if extraction is gonna be necessary..WTH
So here am waiting to get them & yeah in the meanwhile am on & off to my ENT too..think like how Krishna said maybe i need to go for a complete overhauling afterall..And amidst all this is the general hullah bullah of my cousin's wedding next month..Invitations,sarees,tailor shops & what not..Man i kinda decided that IF i get married ever am not goinna allow my mausi ki naani ki chachi ka suggestions or anyone else's sensible suggestions as they always say..

Hail Italy

Iam on cloud 9 & will be till the 9th till Les Bleus takes Azzuris (my fav) in the grand finale.What a way to send the germans packing..Am sure there are millions out there who will disagree with me.Think it was sheer careless attitude & over confidence which sent them packing.Esp that creepo Lehmann..Man wasn't he cocky when he stopped Pirlo's strike.But then if you can,then you'll is what we saw when 2 last minute awesome goals.But yeah to see Klinsmaan consoling his boys was kinda sad but hey that was how most of we Argentine supporters were feeling during the QF..mmm

Next on my list is the semi & finals of Wimbledon..And one more thing to be added here is that my honeymoon is coming to an end from 10th of July.Then it's back to cubholes with requests,threats,orders & whatever goddamn stuff at work.Am sure there must be a whole lot which is gonna keep me busy for a long time.But inspite of all these am supposed to help my aunt & mom in my cousin's wedding.Blah blah blah

God give me enough patience to stand the lot :)

Am mourning

What do i write?Am still trying to come in term with the fact that Brazil has lost to France.I must praise Henry though for the perfect shot which came down as a curtain to Brazil's dream on taking the cup this time.Well..same goes with the defeat of Spain in the 2nd round & Argentina in QF.All the more reasons for me to quit watching the Finals but lemme see..Think the finals maybe between Germany & France.But it'll be gud if Portugal standsup France & come into the Finals for a change :) If only wishes were horses...

One more reason i have to mourn is coz my ENT doc & my family doctor (traitors) have gently advised me not to take icecreams or anything cool for the next 3-4 months till they get the darned cold out of my system.In a way that's gud coz i thought i wudn't be able to be my usual self for the WC Finals if Brazil were there but since they aren't there am saved..No more red cards ofcourse,no dhol & no whistles :(

Sad way they lost it but then hope they come back with a bang next time around..

Well..what do i say

Oh boy..This World Cup is so different from the others i have had a chance to watch so far.For starters,we had Germany with 4 goals right on day 1 (which i never expected)..And with Argentina,Australia,Mexico & Spain following closely..what a game.And yesterday's brilliant performance by Argies will be remembered for the rest of FIFA history.6 splendid goals,plus 1 which was offside & hence not counted upon.I had my red card at home from mom y'day that no more whistles,dhol or swearing foul words but like i always say who cares.After all it's once in 4 years yuo get to see such amazing stuff.My sis was right in saying that Argentina & Spain may come back with a bang this WC.And boy they did.If this is gonna be the case i can feel the defense walls which are building at the Brazilian side.

Never did think that Tevez or Cambiasso will score those brilliant goals which every kid who is learning soccer will have to look out for.Same goes with the goals of Messi & Crespo..What a way to score..And i still feel the best is yet to come.

Gotto wait & watch till July 9th & till then my blogs are gonna be only about Soccer soccer & soccer

And atlast the Ball rolls...

It's official now..Yes.I've my leave extended till July 9th & will be joining back only on the 10th of July.That means that i can watch all the matches of FIFA with no tension of waking up late the next morning or having missed out the best fun. :) Well this World Cup is different right from day 1 when the host scored awesome goals,the oh so boring England's victory & yet another brilliant games by Argentina & Mexico.Which leaves my 2 fav teams Brazil & Croatia to start on Wednesday.In a spot here coz i support both & will be lost for words when one loses which am sure is bound to happen.

I enjoyed the header by Naelson y'day..A brilliant one & no doubt will be on the best goal list..Same goes with ones by Frings,Klose,Drogba & Wanchompe (hope it's the right way to spell).Strange that in the apartment where i leave ,therez not much noise except from the nes which come from my place :) Ofcourse,i've been shown the yellow card at home twice already for the foul words that's been flowing freely whenever there's a miss but then who cares :) It's just about the game & the way you enjoy it.On the whole it's gonna be gud masti all way till 9th of July.

2 more weeks & lots in store

Tomorrow is my cousin's Dday..Yeah shez getting married to Antony Xavier (Son of Motchamary Arulanandam) & we are getting ready.ready to witness so many changes which are about to happen in their lives.Can only witness in anycase coz i have no right to advice them on anything.

This break is doing lotsa gud for me.Am repeating this again coz there's no time constraint which used to be a constant reminder earlier.Still have 10 more days to join & i can even have them extended if i want to till the 3rd week or so.Can pay my dad a visit in Delhi or pack off the weekend to Kumbakonam.Ofcourse next week is gonna be tight packed what with Krishnan's coming down,my promised date with Varun & ofcourse i have this meet with couple of my friends the coming weekend.

Gotto sort out few issues with a friend of mine whoz hellbent on proving me something.Gotto do something about my mobile too & a visit to LokParitrana's office in KK Nagar which is pending.Trying to get my hands on the movie Pulp Fiction :)

My honeymoon

It's different that am waking up every morning late & not running around in hurry to catch my cab to work.Yes.Am officially on a 15 day break.Sometimes bosses can be world class SOBs & thatz how i see mine currently.It's really a welcome break on my side.Imagine waking up around 8AM or so,do your chores aaraam se & then relax.Some said that over a peroid of time it'll get boring but i stand to disagree with those who said that.Was mourning over Real Madrid's defeat & rejoicing on Barcelona's victory.Watching lotsa movies,some good some crappy stuff :) But then who cares when i have all the time in the world.

Heream,just finished my lunch & happily typing this blog.But all good things must come to an end & so will this break of mine. :)

Gotto push off now.Have promised that i'll meet this old pal of mine today & well more later..

ooff the weekend it was

This viral flu has at last left me in peace with just cold and a bit of temp but am still reeling under it's attack.For example no Pepsi on the rocks or Sundaes of any kind for the next 2 weeks :( And what a weekend it was except for the Real Madrid & European Grand Prix.Schumie is back again & i was on cloud 11 for a while when i saw him finish the race..(Nostalgic moments).Watched a oh so not good flick called Basic Instinct II..Sharon lacks her basic appeal in this & another movie i enjoyed was Pokiri a gol flick with Mahesh Babu as it's lead..Some entertainment it was.Hate it when every Tom Dick & Harry asks me what's happening?Idhenna weather forecasta to keep changing :(

No Kaplan this week & sad thing is that mom's gonna be away for the next 17 days or so.So am gonna be the one to take her reign there..Wow watta relief that i can experiment all those gud looking dishes from my Good Housekeeping book..Er never mind how it actually comes out though :)

Am here at work juggling with lotsa things & just remembered that there's a friend's wedding to attend tomorrow & that i have to buy a gift (god help me) and that i have also fixed a meeting with the guys in CTS at their god forsaken Thoraipakkam office at 4PM..What the hell was i doing when i ugh mis calculated the timing?Let's hope that i make i to the wedding reception atleast

Haan one more thing is that Krishnan's gonna be down on the 7th June..

Chennai at it's best

Been down with viral fever for the last 3 days but yet spent my whole day at work much to the chagrin of my sis,mom & friends.Was at my family doc's (am in love with him) clinic and that's where i found that most of the guys who turn complains only one thing..HEAT.What else can you expect here in Chennai where there are just variations like hot,hotter & hottest in the weather..Why do we peple have to crib about that?Sadrah...

I feel lethargic as i type this since the temp's down but still..Thankfully day off on monday will definitely do me some good.have lotsa things to do..like going to the library,washing clothes (ugh ugh),have to watch Basic Instinct II & ofcourse as per plan take the Kaplan test.Yawwwnnnn..Feeling sleepy again -damn this is the way it's been for the past 2 days & am gonna hit the bed in another hour or so.I hate this

Inter religion

I attended my cousin's engagement on the 30th of April and was taken back to see the groom's side.They are not just Syrian christians but are very orthodox too.I could actually count the number of educated faces there & the stark contrast between the 2 families was very obvious.Loud voices,no basic manners & the list goes on..

Now, i know am being very judemental in my views but i still could not recover from the fact that my cousin who is a CA & MBA can choose someone who is not suitable to her in any way but except on what they call LOVE & gets converted just b'coz his family had asked her to do so.Am not a fanatic to say it's wrong but just couldn't get an answer to a question which is "why is it that the gal have to convert herself to her spouse's religion?"
Can't they never have marital bliss if she continues to remain an Iyer & he a christian?Beats me but then i think it's perfectly fine with some people..

Phew shifting over atlast..Sigh of relief

Last weekend we shifted to another apartment nearby & i found something interesting.You can be the world's cleanliest person but it doesn't mean that ur family is one too.

My mom for starters had tears in her eyes when we threw all the old polythene covers which she had collected for ages now & some of her old sarees.And then i knew that her fetish is for polythene covers :) My sis was down when i said that she'll not carry her cardbox full of 1st std -her coll final yr ka notebooks or whatever to the new flat.Not that i had nothing but yeah mine was couple of books & 3 old tees :)

In the end we somehow managed to dump everything in our new flat & are still unpacking..oof never knew that unpacking can be so tedious.It's already friday & we're supposed to get the darned thing done by tomorrow..

Weekend's gone is all i have to say

Orkut n I

Krishna like the way he made me blog also one fine day sent an invite to join the Orkut Community & I recently started Orkutting. Found myself drawn to some communities there & had myself registered in Tam Brahm,Iyer,Xword & many such communities.Interesting thing what i discovered is that this generation is very much attached to their Community & are quiet open on that too.

Now there are some communities like I hate Ulaganathan Community ,SJ Suryha sucks & many such kind.But what's best in Orkut is that i've come across some real good souls with whom i chat.Lots of interesting stuff happening there :)..

That leaves me with my weekend.Unlike the previous one this weekend was spent in Office till about 2PM & then had me running..Oof Chennai is getting hotter day by day (as if it was cool) Gotto meet with Krishna for the Kaplan CD when he's gonna be here in Chennai.Have to fill in lotsa stuff in the meanwhile.And watched a movie called Thambi..Not a bad one,something you can watch it once.

Gotto go..Get back to work & ofcourse Orkutting ;)

If only wishes were

My second trip to Bangalore within a fortnight..I started on wed night,traveled by train & reached the city at about 5 in the morning on thursday.We started to check my colleague's supposed room in Gokul Stage & that was when we discovered that this city is with people who have absolutely no idea about the next cross or main..Phew that's something new to me coz here in Chennai any Tom ,Dick & Harry will tell you where say a Parthasarathy st in Triplicane is or the same street in any nearby locality.Gawwwdd we finally located that place after 1 hour of searching :(.

Day 1 in Garuda Mall & spent the evening with a kutti walk in Mahalaxmi layout.

Day 2 was fun as we went to Nandi Hills & were dead on our feet when i realised we misplaced my room ka chaabi.Spent 2 hours & with the help of some good souls from next room we mananged to open the door with just minimal damage & atlast found the key embedded deep in the pocket(some drama that was)

Day 3 was spent on shopping & was fun but we were searching for okate oka icecream parlour which we didn't & had a pathetic dinner at Shanthi Sagar..(never order a NI thali there)

Day 4 ended up doing nothing..Can you believe this & i was dropped in CMBT bus stand around 1.30AM..Man that guy didn't know how to drive at a speed above 30KM an hour :( To top the whole thing my dear mom forgot to inform the watchman about keeping the gate open.So at 2AM there i was calling my mom at the top of my voice only to wake a stray dog near by :))

But whatever be the goofups i had an excellent trip & enjoyed those 4 days to the fullest.And there is so much more to be filled in but am leaving them for very many reasons...

Phewwww

Mmmphhh..(that's a huge sigh of relief) I've got the service contract renewed from 2 major clients of mine for 3rd consecutive year.Actually surprised when i received an official confirmation this morning from one of them given my record goof ups with them :) Or maybe they just wanna give this sweet soul (ofcourse it's me)another chance to prove my mettle.Without any more goofup

Calls for a real celebration coz my ranking points shot up no sooner we got the message :)
