Er...Angrezziii Accent

A friend of mine had actually sent me another bloglink the other day which i found very interesting.Uma to be very frank i personally feel that we must have that published probably where well some of us can read & enjoy such things.

Which brings me back to the topic on accent.All through my 4 yrs of exp with a consulting firm i have personally taken charge of some BPO clients exclusively for which i have been through the general V n A session.Phonetics is pure fun.Only tough thing is to actually get an agent understand where he / she have to roll their tongue,where you have to be light on pronounciation & it goes on and on.And i find it very funny when people put out a fake US accent which in the end makes them sound mmm shall we say funny to the customer who is actually holding the call on the other end.Similarly today morning,a team member suddenly switched over to the oh so funny sounding accent & i was ROTFL.And his explanation..Ramaa i thought they will check out my accent too since these guys are from the floor..As to accent i personally feel it's UK which is the BEST & not the oh so kewl US which sadly most of su follow.Can never understand as to what these guys achieve by this except for the fact that they turn out to be laughing stock to others.One more funny incident was when someone started with a very normal accent & then switched over to US accent after a while.And when asked about the change he replied saying that he has got to starting problem when it comes to it.

Phew.For heaven's sake grow up folks and get a grip.

Moral values we have..Does it differ

Just read Rashmi's blog on the accident that took place in Mumbai early this week.The accident which left 7 dead & the same one in which the driver may as well walk off scott free.Reminds me of something similar which took place couple of days back on my way back home but not as ghastly as the one which happened in Mumbai.The driver of the car who hit the guy in bike never bothered to even look back but was apparently brought back by the mob after a tough hopeless chase.But after all this hungama our man walks off with nothing - reason being that he stuffed some amount in the injured person's hand.

And what really got me thinking is the fact that the party who got injured is fine with it as the other person has given him money.And sad part is; that he was taken to a hospital nearby by a couple who were passing by in their four wheeler & not by the person who hit him.Wat a stark contrast to the way the guy who met with the accident & the guy who hit him behaved.Made me understand that there are some good souls who actually come forward & help inspite of whatever be their personal reactions to the case maybe.One more incident & one more guy walking free.Don't we see a pattern setting in here.No amount of media publicity is going to help because inspite of everything single citizen fighting against such things we see the prime accused off the loop.I don't blame these folks who don't speak up or take it any further action.Where's the courage to stand up against people who have everything for them & can have every single witness turn hostile.

Phew..back to where i started,it's all about core values & moral ethics you have been brought up with.And in most such cases we see the accused being from a very affluent family.That makes me wonder...

Gyaan

I won't call myself a 'Paragon of Virtue' but at the same time i have my own values.Yeah there have been many times in the past couple of months when i have stepped out of them & depicted a different picture i usually make it a point that i stick to my own values.Things that have been going around me for the past few days have made me realise that am better off than some of my peers.Not that i have ever lied but yeah now i know as to how the other person would have felt when i did the same.Except that this revolves around my work & am in deep shit coz of certain things which were taken for granted from their end on me.

I hate melodramatic statements & coming from guys that's all that will take to put off a guy whatever be the relationship you have with him..Maybe professional or may even be personal.And somehow these days inspite of me being in this corporate world,inspite of me having made good friends,i miss something..And to an extent i actually know what it is - Freedom.Freedom to do things independently & come out with effective results,freedom to actually put across my thoughts and not feel baffled by someone on the other end.

If only the haze clears..Wishful thinking is what i can hear myself saying.

Oh hell..There i go again,losing my kewl over something trivial and something that doesn't hold any importance at all.Blame it on my quick temper but yeah i just decided one thing today.Never to lose kewl & god help me that way..

Miles to go before i sleep

Patience is a virtue said someone yeah i do agree with it but not when they are in my shoes.First thing in my official trip to Bangalore,i pissed off a colleague of mine who was trying to pull his weight around.And from then on i became his first come first serve based person to find fault.Am fine with taking bullshit but not to that extent that i need to listen to some dumb creepo.I come back & here am non stop inoffice with temp & cold with my VP around.And still waiting to sign off for the day which just seems to be far far far thing right now.

No wonder Frost aptly said & which suits me well :

Bangalore..

I reached Chennai this morning from an official trip to Bangalore & man am happy.Infact i discovered some shocking things which put me off the 2 days i was there in my office & from where i made a hasty exit about 4PM last evening.Made me thank my Manager here in Chennai & the team here.But yeah the plus of being in Bangalore is my stay with Ajay,Keerthi & Steve..You rock esp when i thought that Steve as an introvert but hey you made me eat my words.And Shwetha too..

Only plus like i mentioned earlier in me coming for a training or for anthing to Bangalore henceforth is the stay in Ajay's place & well i have nothing to say about the official trip except that i have made 4 new friends.God help them!!!

And Krishna i really did miss you in Bangalore..Shudda made it da :(

Diwali - De javu

One more diwali gone.Like every other it's been happening this year too i wokeup at my usual 8AM with the regular background stuff going on :) Thanks to my mom,she always makes it a point to drive her point right through & make me feel guilty..Not that she does this intentionally it's just that she can't help being herself.So this diwali too it's the same old wishing friends,watching TV & yeah catchup with sleep in the noon which i did for about 3 hrs or so..Which made me think about the good old days during my childhood & the way i used to celebrate Diwali as a kid.So many changes or rather evolutions should i call them.Made me remember the innocent kid in me who used to go bonkers at the approaching festival & start the countdown with the other kids in the neighbourhood.Getting up early morning & getting dressed before everyone.The childish fights during the time to prove each other about the courage to burst the biggest mean cracker which was a 1000wala or a hydrogen bomb at that point of time :)I had a sudden strong sense of De javu about all the diwalis i had spent in Kumbakonam & just realised that those days will never come back again.

Fanaa

Fanaa has been my fav song from the moment i heard it & it still is.Something about the song always peps me & takes me to a different altitude altogether.No matter how down n upset am,Fanaa always lifts my spirit.Thinking of which,i realised i have lotsa songs esp Nilavadhumu from Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana ,RHTDM from RHTDM that has the same kinda effect on me but nothing to beat Fanaa.And right now it's Munbe Vaa which is following closely to get in the Fanaa league & i'll not be surprised if it does.I don't wanna repeat again but this song with Shreya & Naresh is refreshing in the era of some jutka numbers which we have been hearing offlate.Not that all songs are that way,for instance there's Manjal Veyil from Vettayadu Vilayadu which is good,Sudum nilavu which saw UnniKrishnan back with his golden voice along with Harini & ofcourse Pani thuli from Kanda Naal Mudhal.

Brings us back to hard reality of vulgar lyrics & not to mention some very obscene movements.Gosh!!!Will we ever get some more tracks which are pleasing just not on ears but on eyes too in future like the ones mentioned here..GOK

Topsy truvy.. the way my life has been in the past 2 weeks.Lotsa fights,mud slinging sessions,crying,making up.Phew..Now i give a sigh of relief after solving issues ,making my colleagues understand that i can deliver results too and many such stuff..Waiting for the 10th,so that i can solve any amount of understanding which is still hovering.One good thing that happened last week - Varun lost his bet :)



Hope things get better in the near furture coz i don't wanna ever go through this kinda emotional torture again in my life..Wishful thinking !!!

One week in a BPO

My first week here is officially over n am slogging.Not that am cribbing about long work hours or coming here on weekends when i can see many of my friends chilling out happily.Am learning lotsa different things here in recruitment process,evaluation and what not but still somewhere down the line i still have this speck of doubt tat if have been too hasty in my decision to join a BPO.Can't do anything now except get on with it.

But one good thing here is the shift from a consulting background to the real corporate world & some of it's harsh realities.And back to Orkutting,chatting in yahoo & other stuff..Have to get a report ready with all the facts as to why attrition is high plus why we have dropouts at the final moment in an induction.

Get that done,followup on some guys and am done for the day.Plan to keep my appointment with my family doc on a test that's pending & my dentist who has washed his hands on me :) Hahhhhh his appointment is pending for 10 days now..

As time goes by i think i'll blog more about the company,stuffs happening here & blah blah blah..Afterall itz my blog and i can write in anything..Isn't that true Varun?

My Bangalore trip was just for couple of days.Thanks to Ajay & Keerthi for putting me at ease at their place.And here am back in chennai,with my viral flu back to me like a prodigal homecoming..4 more days and i start my new job on Monday.

JINXED is the word

Oh well they always say that all good things must come to an end & so is the case with me too.Paid a visit to my dentist soon after i finished my blog y'day.Some kinda problem with my temp filling.The only consolation is that y'day my 45+yr old dentist was not there & in there were couple of his oh so cool juniors.So here am - back to my not so hot,cold & hard stuff ka diet & some temp white cement filling :( Would this never end?

Am done

Am done..Just the final laser filling which is pending & which will be done sometime soon.And yeah am joining a new company on the 11th of Sep.Hope things go well but yeah this definitely is a welcome change when compared with my previous job.Things just didn't go well during the last few months & that chapter's closed..Forever but it kinda hurts that people take you on a ride just coz u have been with them long.No wonder familiarity breeds contempt..I've never thought that it'll but then it definitely did and for which i paid a huge price,almost lost my best bud,my hard work & what not.Nothing or rather nobody's is indispensable is what i learnt from that lesson.

The grand Climax

This is it..Am done with my dental fixtures and wat not for the last time..Stitches removed,fillings done & just 1 more checkup to go on thursday & am outta it.Hell i almost thought that i was turning into a cat with all the milk & bread that was being fed :( (Varun u know it all)

ENT done & now itz upto the dentist

There have been days when i have made fun of my mom whenever she used to go the dentist & have her teeth extracted (think it was some 4 or 5 which are already gone) :)) but never in my worst dreams i have actually thought that one fine am gonna be there in her shoes.Now after going thru the whole ordeal of aahhhh open ur mouth kinda stuff,i have had enough.One Xray which am to be getting now will decide whether am to undergo a root canal or not...Root canal oh yeah my dentist very patiently explained that doing a root canal will be as complicated as extracting that particular teeth coz my roots are long :)) Any dentist who can comment on this?
And my mom actually smiled & said that he can go ahead if extraction is gonna be necessary..WTH
So here am waiting to get them & yeah in the meanwhile am on & off to my ENT too..think like how Krishna said maybe i need to go for a complete overhauling afterall..And amidst all this is the general hullah bullah of my cousin's wedding next month..Invitations,sarees,tailor shops & what not..Man i kinda decided that IF i get married ever am not goinna allow my mausi ki naani ki chachi ka suggestions or anyone else's sensible suggestions as they always say..

Hail Italy

Iam on cloud 9 & will be till the 9th till Les Bleus takes Azzuris (my fav) in the grand finale.What a way to send the germans packing..Am sure there are millions out there who will disagree with me.Think it was sheer careless attitude & over confidence which sent them packing.Esp that creepo Lehmann..Man wasn't he cocky when he stopped Pirlo's strike.But then if you can,then you'll is what we saw when 2 last minute awesome goals.But yeah to see Klinsmaan consoling his boys was kinda sad but hey that was how most of we Argentine supporters were feeling during the QF..mmm

Next on my list is the semi & finals of Wimbledon..And one more thing to be added here is that my honeymoon is coming to an end from 10th of July.Then it's back to cubholes with requests,threats,orders & whatever goddamn stuff at work.Am sure there must be a whole lot which is gonna keep me busy for a long time.But inspite of all these am supposed to help my aunt & mom in my cousin's wedding.Blah blah blah

God give me enough patience to stand the lot :)

Am mourning

What do i write?Am still trying to come in term with the fact that Brazil has lost to France.I must praise Henry though for the perfect shot which came down as a curtain to Brazil's dream on taking the cup this time.Well..same goes with the defeat of Spain in the 2nd round & Argentina in QF.All the more reasons for me to quit watching the Finals but lemme see..Think the finals maybe between Germany & France.But it'll be gud if Portugal standsup France & come into the Finals for a change :) If only wishes were horses...

One more reason i have to mourn is coz my ENT doc & my family doctor (traitors) have gently advised me not to take icecreams or anything cool for the next 3-4 months till they get the darned cold out of my system.In a way that's gud coz i thought i wudn't be able to be my usual self for the WC Finals if Brazil were there but since they aren't there am saved..No more red cards ofcourse,no dhol & no whistles :(

Sad way they lost it but then hope they come back with a bang next time around..

Well..what do i say

Oh boy..This World Cup is so different from the others i have had a chance to watch so far.For starters,we had Germany with 4 goals right on day 1 (which i never expected)..And with Argentina,Australia,Mexico & Spain following closely..what a game.And yesterday's brilliant performance by Argies will be remembered for the rest of FIFA history.6 splendid goals,plus 1 which was offside & hence not counted upon.I had my red card at home from mom y'day that no more whistles,dhol or swearing foul words but like i always say who cares.After all it's once in 4 years yuo get to see such amazing stuff.My sis was right in saying that Argentina & Spain may come back with a bang this WC.And boy they did.If this is gonna be the case i can feel the defense walls which are building at the Brazilian side.

Never did think that Tevez or Cambiasso will score those brilliant goals which every kid who is learning soccer will have to look out for.Same goes with the goals of Messi & Crespo..What a way to score..And i still feel the best is yet to come.

Gotto wait & watch till July 9th & till then my blogs are gonna be only about Soccer soccer & soccer

And atlast the Ball rolls...

It's official now..Yes.I've my leave extended till July 9th & will be joining back only on the 10th of July.That means that i can watch all the matches of FIFA with no tension of waking up late the next morning or having missed out the best fun. :) Well this World Cup is different right from day 1 when the host scored awesome goals,the oh so boring England's victory & yet another brilliant games by Argentina & Mexico.Which leaves my 2 fav teams Brazil & Croatia to start on Wednesday.In a spot here coz i support both & will be lost for words when one loses which am sure is bound to happen.

I enjoyed the header by Naelson y'day..A brilliant one & no doubt will be on the best goal list..Same goes with ones by Frings,Klose,Drogba & Wanchompe (hope it's the right way to spell).Strange that in the apartment where i leave ,therez not much noise except from the nes which come from my place :) Ofcourse,i've been shown the yellow card at home twice already for the foul words that's been flowing freely whenever there's a miss but then who cares :) It's just about the game & the way you enjoy it.On the whole it's gonna be gud masti all way till 9th of July.
